The 2023 edition of the CAF Awards is planned to take place on 11th December 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco. Ampem Darkoa has emerged victorious as they have been nominated in different categories
Young Player of the Year award
Ampem Darkoa’s wonderful year has not gone unnoticed according to CAF. The fantastic duo of Comfort Yebaoh and Mary Amponsah have been shortlisted for the 2023 CAF Young Player of the Year alongside Esther Ajakaye, Deborah Obiodun, and Oluwatosin Demehin all of Nigeria. Thubelihle Shamase( South Africa), Nesryne El Chad (Morocco), Fauzia Najjemba(Uganda) and Winifred Gerald( Tanzania) have all been shortlisted.
Comfort Yeboah, right back, won the MVP in their historic win over ASFAR by putting up a 5-star performance in that game. She scored a wonderful goal and also forced her own goal which clinched Nana Mma their maiden win in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.
Mary Amponsah has been an instrumental figure in Ampem Darkoa’s incredible year. She won MVP and bagged seven goals in the WAFU Zone B Championship.
Women’s Team of the Year
Ampem Darkoa Ladies, champions of Ghana Women’s Premier League and WAFU Zone B Champions League Champions who are also semi-finalists in the ongoing CAFWCL in Ivory Coast have also been nominated for Women’s Team of the Year.
Coach of the Year
Nana Joe Adarkwa, coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies has been nominated for Women’s Coach of the Year. He led Nana Mma to the Ghana Women’s Premier League title and the WAFU Zone B Championship. He will contest it with Randy Waldrums, Mohammed Amine Alioua, Desiree Ellis, Reynard Pedros, Lovemore Fazili and many others.
Interclub Player of the Year
Comfort Yeboah and Tracy Twum have been shortlisted for the CAF Interclub Player of the Year.
