Pyramids FC booked their place in the CAF Champions League final for the first time in the club’s history after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Orlando Pirates in the second leg of their semi-final clash in Cairo.
Following a goalless draw in the first leg, the Cairo-based side came from behind twice, with Congolese striker Fiston Mayele emerging as the hero. Mayele scored a brace in first-half stoppage time before netting the dramatic winner in the 86th minute to complete his hat-trick.
Orlando Pirates had taken the lead through Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota, but goals from Ramadan Sobhi and Mayele inspired a remarkable comeback.
Pyramids FC will now meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the final, with the two-legged showdown set for May 24 and June 1.
