Match: Esperance v Sundowns

Venue: Rades Stadium (Tunis)

Time: 7 pm

Mamelodi Sundowns have a huge advantage in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League against Esperance Sportive de Tunis after winning the first leg by 1-0 in Pretoria last week.

The Brazilians will try to revenge the home and away defeats they suffered in the semi-finals of last season’s CAF Champions League against their Tunisian opponents.

Esperance was outplayed massively by the South Africans in the first leg, even though the results didn’t reflect their dominance. The Tunisians will definitely try to close the gap on the field of play between the two before thinking of progressing.

It is a return back home for Portuguese head coach Miguel Cardozo after leading Esperance to the finals last season against Al Ahly of Egypt. The tactician knows how to grind results and Sundowns will hope he will do his magic once again.

Mamelodi Sundowns will need a huge mentality to get the necessary results.

Chilean midfielder Marcelo Bravo Allendo has promised the fans of Sundowns a win on Tuesday night.

“We will try to win, we try to win always everywhere [we go]. We’re Sundowns and we’re going there to win,” Allende said.

The Blood and Gold have not reported any serious injury to any of their squad and are expected to have all their big boys around. Although Belaili, Yan Sasse, Ben Hamida, Mokwana and Bouchniba were prevented from being a threat they are ready to prove how good they are to their opponents.

Peter Shalulile, who scored the winner in the first leg, will get the chance to lead Mamelodi Sundowns’ attack.

Predictions

Esperance 1-1 Sundowns
