FC Samartex forward Baba Musah Hamadu has stressed the team’s commitment to staying focused as they prepare for the second leg of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League first preliminary round against Victoria United.
Although they secured a narrow 1-0 win in the first leg, Hamadu emphasized that the team is treating the result as if it were a loss, driving them to put in even more effort for the upcoming match.
The Ghanaian champions had their first experience in Africa’s premier club competition last Sunday, with Emmanuel Mamah’s decisive header in the 47th minute securing the victory. Despite this initial success, Hamadu underscored the importance of maintaining a serious approach as they head into the second leg, scheduled for Sunday, August 25, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reflecting on the challenges they faced in the first match, Hamadu highlighted the need for another strong performance to ensure their progression to the next round. “A 1-0 victory is a tricky one, no matter how elated we are as players. Therefore, we have resolved to perceive it as a defeat, entering the second leg fixture as wounded lions at the Accra Sports Stadium. We can only celebrate after progressing to the next stage of the competition,” he stated.
The Timber Giants are determined to only celebrate once they have successfully advanced, demonstrating their dedication to making a significant impact in the tournament.
