TP Mazembe v Petro Luanda
Venue: Stade TP Mazembe
Time: 1 pm, Saturday

TP Mazembe will welcome Petro Luanda to Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday afternoon. The Congolese giants have been very unbreakable at home since losing 1-0 to Yanga in Round 6 of the group stage of last season’s Confederation. They have won 14 out of the last 15 home games and drawn one. TP Mazembe has scored 52 goals in the 15 home games and has conceded just 3 goals.

Yes! This is the task Petro Luanda will face on Saturday afternoon. The Angolans on the other hand did not concede a single goal in the group stage as Lamine Ndiaye, TP Mazembe’s head coach acknowledged, “It’s a very strong team behind. It’s the first time since the competition existed [that a team has come out of the group phase without conceding a goal]. Things will have to change already for us”.

How are they going to prevent TP Mazembe from scoring? Stade TP Mazembe has been a difficult venue for teams to visit this season as only Simba in Round 10 of the Congo DR Ligue  snatched a 1-1 draw.

Petro Luanda are unbeaten in their last 21 games in all competitions with their last defeat coming in September 2023 when they were beaten 2-0 at home against Sundowns in the AFL.

Team News

No injuries have been reported from the camps of both teams as they are expected to have their best players on the field.

Head to Head

TP Mazembe, en route to the 2009 title thrashed Petro Luanda 5-1 on aggregate in the qualification play-off. A 3-0 win in Lubumbashi in the first leg and a 2-1 triumph in Angola made sure the Congolese progressed.
