Marcel Koller, the manager of Al Ahly, emphasized that their place in the CAF Champions League final is not yet secured despite their victory against Esperance de Tunis in the first leg.
After a convincing 3-0 win at Rades Stadium, Al Ahly took a significant step towards their fourth successive CAF Champions League final.
Although pleased with the result and the team’s performance, the Swiss manager made it clear that they will not underestimate their Tunisian opponents in the second leg.
“We are delighted to have won 3-0 away from home. However, we must remember that our qualification to the final is not guaranteed,” Koller stated during the post-match press conference.
He further pointed out examples from football history to emphasize the need for caution: “We have witnessed instances like Liverpool’s comeback against Barcelona, where they scored four goals, and Juventus netting three times away from home against Real Madrid.”
Koller stressed the importance of maintaining focus and not underestimating Esperance de Tunis in the second leg, as anything can happen in football.
The second leg is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 19th, at Cairo Stadium.
