Zamalek coach Jose Gomez holds a strong belief in his team’s ability to score against Dreams FC in the upcoming fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals. The clash at the Cairo International Stadium ended in a thrilling draw, with Zamalek unable to convert their scoring opportunities, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate. On the other hand, Dreams FC managed to limit Zamalek’s chances while maintaining a solid defense throughout the game.

Looking forward to the return leg at the Baba Yara Stadium, Gomez expresses confidence in Zamalek’s ability to find the back of the net at least once. Reflecting on the previous match, the Portuguese coach acknowledges the team’s shortcomings in terms of speed and execution but remains optimistic about their chances in the upcoming game.

Gomez emphasizes the need for improvement in the technical aspects of their gameplay while praising the team’s overall performance and positioning during the match. Despite the missed opportunities, he believes Zamalek had ample chances to secure a victory in the first leg.

Sunday.

“We missed speed and playing our way against Dreams,” said the Portuguese boss after the game.

“There were some technical errors and we did not play optimally, but we had many positions that qualified us to win and decide the match,” he added.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to achieve victory and the first half of the semi-final match ended,” he continued. “We now need to focus and play the second half well in Ghana.

“Things will be very different in the return match, especially with the grass, humidity and temperature, and even if things are like that, I trust the players,” he said.

“We expected more from the players in the match regarding the way we played. We had many chances and did not score, and it is possible that we will score in Ghana, even if at least one goal.”

As attention shifts to the second leg in Kumasi, Ghana, Gomez highlights the different conditions they will face, including the playing surface, humidity, and temperature. However, he expresses trust in his players’ ability to adapt and perform well under the new circumstances.

While acknowledging the disappointment of not securing a win in the first leg, Gomez emphasizes the importance of focusing on the upcoming match and approaching it with determination. He reiterates his belief that Zamalek can capitalize on their scoring chances in Ghana and secure a favorable result, even if it means scoring just one goal.

Looking ahead to the return leg at the Baba Yara Stadium, both teams are gearing up for what promises to be an intense and decisive encounter. With Zamalek determined to make their mark and Dreams FC aiming to maintain their solid defensive record, the stage is set for a captivating showdown on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
