On Friday, Wydad Casablanca will face Simba SC in a second-leg match of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals at Stade Mohamed V in Morocco.
Wydad is at a disadvantage after losing the first-leg clash 1-0 in Tanzania on April 22, which ended their five-match unbeaten run in the Champions League.
However, the Moroccan champions are undefeated in their last nine home matches in the continental tournament, having achieved seven wins and two draws against Angola’s Petro de Luanda and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.
Wydad head coach Juan Carlos Garrido acknowledged Simba’s strength after the first-leg game and expressed his optimism for the second-leg, saying that the match will be different with the presence of the fans and their recovered players.
Simba head coach Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ praised his team’s performance after the first-leg win, citing their progress and strong players.
The two teams have met twice in the Champions League since 2011, each recording a win, with Wydad winning 3-0 the last time they hosted Simba in May 2011.
The kick off time for the game is 19:00 GMT.
