Ghanaian duo Caleb Yirenkyi and Brandon Thomas-Asante were introduced in the second half as Coventry City suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Yirenkyi entered the game in the 63rd minute and had a limited but active involvement during his time on the pitch. The midfielder recorded 18 touches and completed four accurate passes as he attempted to help Coventry City find a way back into the contest.
The Ghana international was brought on as Coventry searched for a response, but Manchester City managed to protect their advantage and hold on for all three points.
Thomas-Asante was introduced later in the match and spent just 19 minutes on the pitch. During that period, the forward recorded nine touches and made two recoveries as Coventry pushed for an equaliser.
Despite the late efforts from both Ghanaian players, Coventry City could not find a breakthrough against a resolute Manchester City side.
The defeat was a frustrating result for Coventry, who were beaten by a single goal despite their attempts to get back into the game.
For Yirenkyi and Thomas-Asante, the appearance provides valuable Premier League experience, with both players continuing to compete for regular playing time and greater involvement as the campaign progresses.
Yirenkyi, in particular, will be hoping his second-half introduction leads to more opportunities in upcoming fixtures, while Thomas-Asante will also look to make a stronger impact when given more minutes.
