Cape Verde’s midfielder, Jamiro Monteiro, expressed the team’s determination to prove themselves further after securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.
Jamiro Monteiro played a pivotal role in Cape Verde’s narrow victory over Mauritania, earning the Man of the Match award for his standout performance. Post-game, he emphasized that the Blue Sharks have untapped potential and are committed to showcasing their capabilities in the upcoming matches.
“I’d like to dedicate this award to Cape Verde and to all the people who support us. It’s fantastic, we’ve taken another step forward, but we haven’t shown everything yet. We can still do a lot, but the most important thing is to qualify for the quarter-finals,” stated Jamiro Monteiro.
Monteiro also commended teammate Ryan Mendes, the goalscorer, for his exemplary leadership qualities, referring to him as their role model.
