Cape Verde head coach Bubista has stepped down from his role to take charge of Moroccan champions RS Berkane, bringing an end to a successful six-year spell with the Blue Sharks.
The 56-year-old leaves after guiding Cape Verde to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time in the nation’s history. The island nation reached the Round of 32 before suffering a 3-2 extra-time defeat to eventual runners-up Argentina.
Bubista also led Cape Verde to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, cementing his place as one of the country’s most successful coaches.
He has signed a two-year contract with RS Berkane, replacing Moin Chaabani, who recently became Tunisia’s new head coach.
Cape Verde’s Football Federation paid tribute to Bubista for his dedication and contribution to the national team, wishing him success in the next chapter of his coaching career.
The appointment sees Bubista take over one of Africa’s leading clubs, with RS Berkane winning the Moroccan league title last season and establishing themselves as regular contenders in CAF inter-club competitions.
