Captain for Ghana’s Black Galaxies Gladson Awako is doubtful ahead of Ghana’s opening game against Madagascar on January 15,2023 at 7pm after picking up an injury against Algeria on Saturday evening.
The former Berekum Chelsea FC and TP Mazembe star was taken off very early after picking up the injury during the course of the game against Algeria in a Pre-CHAN tournament friendly match.
Though officials have not reveal the extent of the injury sustained by the Ghana midfielder with just five days to the start of the tournament, it looks more likely that the midfielder could at least miss the first game of the tournament.
The Black Galaxies held the Greens of Algeria to a goalless draw in their pre-CHAN friendly at the newly constructed Nelson Mandela Sports Stadium.
The home-based national team engaged the North Africans in the first of their two friendlies in Algeria before the tournament starts next week.
Algeria took command of the game, dominating and causing problems for the Black Galaxies.
The Accra Hearts of Oak SC captain could not even finish the first 45 minutes of the match due to the unfortunate incident.
The game ended in an entertaining goalless draw.
