Charles Simpson has reaffirmed his determination to lead the Black Princesses to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland after successfully guiding the team into the final round of the qualifiers.
The Ghana U-20 women’s side advanced with a 3-2 aggregate victory over South Africa women’s national under-20 football team. After a 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Princesses travelled to Johannesburg and secured a crucial 1-0 win to seal qualification to the decisive stage.
Speaking after the match, Charles Simpson stated that the ultimate objective remains World Cup qualification. He described South Africa as a tough opponent and expressed satisfaction that his team managed to overcome the challenge.
He added that the technical team will now shift focus to preparing adequately for their next opponents, as Ghana prepares to face Uganda women’s national under-20 football team in the final round.
The last stage of the qualifiers will be played over two legs in May 2026, with matches scheduled between May 1 and May 10. With just one hurdle left, the Black Princesses are determined to secure their place on the global stage.
