Thomas Partey has suffered a fresh injury setback and is expected to miss a significant amount of games for Arsenal.

The Ghana international has undergone a “procedure” after missing the last few weeks with an injury, football.london understands.

Mikel Arteta is facing a growing injury list at the Emirates Stadium with Partey joining the likes of Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah, and Bukayo Saka – who are all recovering from their own concerns. The 30-year-old has been plagued by injuries over the last few years with two separate issues already keeping him out for over six weeks since the 2023/24 season began.

Partey’s latest setback will see him miss the remainder of the year with participation for Ghana in AFCON next year possibly meaning he will not play a prominent role again until February 2024. This could see the Ghanaian midfielder miss up to 13 games – not including FA Cup fixtures – for Arsenal.

As Partey begins his recovery, the Gunners are preparing to face Burnley ahead of the November international break. Arteta will hope his side can return to winning ways in domestic competition after moving one step closer towards qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds with a win against Sevilla earlier this week.

Check the games below

Burnley (H) – Premier League – Saturday, November 11

Brentford (A) – Premier League – Saturday, November 25

Lens (H) – Champions League – Wednesday, November 29

Wolves (H) – Premier League – Saturday, December 2
