Chris Hughton, the new coach of the Ghanaian national football team, is keen to utilize the skills of talented attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
Kudus has been performing exceptionally well for both his club and country this season, scoring 20 goals across all competitions. However, his versatility in playing various positions has left his coaches puzzled.
Hughton stated during his unveiling that Kudus is a player who can play multiple positions, and everyone has an opinion on his best position. Hughton’s focus is to strike the correct balance to get the best out of the player.
“With regards to Kudus, he is a player that can play in numerous positions. Everybody can have an opinion on his best position. For me it’s just about getting the right balance,” said Hughton at his unveiling.
Kudus is included in the 25-man squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola. Despite featuring in Ajax’s title-decider against Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday, he is expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday.
Hughton has been appointed as head coach of the Black Stars until December 2024, with the primary objective of winning the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast next year.
