Former president of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, has expressed disappointment in Black Stars coach Chris Hughton for not utilizing Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey in Monday’s friendly against Namibia.

The Black Stars engaged Namibia at the Baba Yara Stadium in a pre-AFCON preparatory game, which ended in a goalless draw, sparking discussions among Ghanaians.

Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, a board member of Hearts of Oak, questioned Hughton’s decision not to provide an opportunity for Richmond Lamptey, particularly when the team needed a creative force in midfield.

“Chris Hughton is totally useless for not giving Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey an opportunity to play in yesterday’s friendly against Namibia,” he remarked on Asempa FM.

The criticism comes as the Black Stars prepare to depart for Ivory Coast on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, gearing up for their opening AFCON match against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

They will also face Egypt and Mozambique on January 18 and 22, respectively, in Group B.
