Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, is poised to provide an opportunity for fringe players within the Black Stars squad to showcase their abilities during the upcoming clash against Liberia.
The Black Stars are set to host the Lone Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium in an international friendly on Tuesday evening. This match is an integral part of the Black Stars’ preparations for both the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 AFCON tournament, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
Ghana secured their qualification for these tournaments last Thursday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Central African Republic in Kumasi, securing the top spot in their group.
According to sources closely associated with the team, the former Premier League manager intends to field some players who have seen limited playing time in order to demonstrate their value during the Liberia friendly. Consequently, many of the players who missed the game against Central African Republic are expected to have the opportunity to feature against the Lone Stars.
Players such as Manaf Nurudeen, Kingsley Schindler, Stephan Ambrosius, Nicolas Opoku, Fatawu Issahaku, Ransford Yeboah, and Edmund Addo could potentially see significant game time during this encounter.
The friendly match is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm.
