Charles Kwabla Akonnor, also known as CK Akonor has strongly denied expressing interest in replacing Prosper Narteh Ogum at Asante Kotoko as the head coach.

The former Black Stars skipper was the head coach of Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko between 2018 and 2019.

“I was mad when I saw it because I didn’t say anything like that. I didn’t say I was interested in coaching the team, so I later called the guy who granted the interview, and he also denied it and said it was the bloggers who just twisted the story to get attention,” revealed CK.

CK Akonnor, the former Black Stars coach says he was extremely angry when he heard and read that he has shown interest in the Asante Kotoko job.

Many Porcupine Warriors fans were calling for the sacking of Prosper Narteh Ogum in early May because the team was struggling. Asante Kotoko played nine games, won one, drew one and lost seven in the first 9 games of the second round of the GPL.

After a crunch meeting with the club patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll at Manhyia Palace, Asante Kotoko is unbeaten in their last two games. They won against the league leaders Samartex 1-0 and secured a crucial draw against Medeama SC in Tarkwa.
