German-born Ghanaian striker Charles-Jesaja Herrmann found the net for Waldhof Mannheim in their 1-1 draw against Viktoria Köln 1904 on Saturday afternoon.
Herrmann, who started the game at the Carl-Benz-Stadion, put on an impressive performance for 72 minutes.
The match remained tightly contested, with Donny Bogicevic attempting the first shot in the 12th minute, but narrowly missing to the right from a distance.
Initially, the hosts struggled to gain control of the game. However, following a poor clearing attempt by Cologne, they had an opportunity to take the lead. Kelvin Arase took a shot, but Christoph Greger managed to deflect it for a corner in the 15th minute.
The tables turned early in the second half as the hosts quickly capitalized on regaining possession. Charles Herrmann chipped the ball over Rauhut into the net in the 47th minute, putting Mannheim ahead 1-0.
In the 89th minute, David Philipp leveled the score for the visitors. Following a throw-in, Viktoria’s number 10 positioned himself in the penalty area, and the ball found its way to him, evading all Mannheim players and landing at his foot for a goal.
Waldhof Mannheim’s next league match will be against Arminia Bielefeld.
