Former GHALCA Chairman Cudjoe Fianoo has once again raised serious concerns about governance and power dynamics within Ghana football, claiming that club administrators often lack the authority to make independent decisions.
According to him, the structure of football administration in the country leaves club officials with “no teeth to bite,” suggesting they are often sidelined when major decisions are being made.
Fianoo recounted a past incident involving a sponsorship deal, alleging that issues arose regarding the handling of funds by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“There was a time a sponsorship deal came through, but the GFA wanted to mishandle the funds,” he revealed.
He further explained that once he got wind of the situation, he took action to resist it, even while battling illness at the time.
“I got wind of it, and despite being ill, I rallied the club owners to support my pushback,” he added.
His comments highlight long-standing tensions between club administrators and football authorities, with concerns about transparency, accountability, and decision-making power in Ghana’s football ecosystem.
Fianoo’s remarks are expected to reignite debate about reforms needed to strengthen club governance and ensure fair handling of sponsorship and commercial agreements within the game.
