Ghanaian coach James Kwesi Appiah has signed a contract extension with the Sudan national team after an impressive spell that has transformed the side’s fortunes in recent years.
The 65-year-old, who took charge of the Falcons of Jediane in 2023, has overseen significant progress, guiding the team to notable improvements in performance and competitiveness.
After successful negotiations last Thursday, the Sudan Football Association agreed to reward Appiah’s impact with a new three-year deal, keeping him at the helm until 2028.
Since his appointment, the former Black Stars coach has led Sudan to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they will compete in Group E alongside Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso.
Appiah is currently leading the team in the Arab Cup, where Sudan opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Algeria. They are scheduled to face Iraq next on December 6.
