On Monday, August 14, James Kwasi Appiah submitted a formal protest as part of his bid to secure a position on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council in the upcoming GFA elections.
The former forward of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has reportedly successfully completed the necessary filing procedures. These filings were due by the end of the working day on Friday, August 11, 2023. Appiah is now striving to earn a place on the Ghana Football Association Board of Directors for the next four years.
Despite initially announcing that the elective congress month for the Ghana Football Association elections would be October 2023, the organization later confirmed that the quadrennial election to choose leaders for the next four years will take place on September 27, 2023.
In the race for the presidency seat, George Kwesi Afriyie, the former Vice President of the GFA, will compete against incumbent Kurt Okraku.
In the women’s premier league slot, Gifty Oware-Mensah, the owner of Berry Ladies Football Club, will go unopposed after being the sole candidate to file by the closing date on Friday.
