It was all smiles at the Mohamed V Palace in Conakry when the Syli National visited his excellency Mamadi Doumbouya.
Led by skipper Naby Keita, head coach Kaba Diawara and the president of the Guinean Football Federation, Abubakar Sampil, the team officially went to the president’s palace to give accounts on what transpired during the 2023 AFCON.
Guniea was beaten 3-1 by DR Congo in the quarter-finals of the 2023 AFCON and everything indicates that Guineans are extremely happy with the performance.
Mamady Doumbouya, the president of Guinea praised the team and urged them to come back stronger in the next AFCON.
“Congratulations to our players, coach and staff! We will come back even stronger.
“Let us now learn lessons and prepare ourselves for the next challenges, notably CAN 2025. Let us mobilize our positive energies to support and strengthen the sports department in the implementation of a development strategy for all sporting disciplines in our country. Thousands of people gave the Syli National a hero’s welcome in Conakry on Monday as danced, sang and praised the players for their fighting spirit in Ivory Coast.
