Dan Quaye, a former Ghanaian international, has expressed doubts about Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League due to their lackluster performances.
Currently occupying the fifth and sixth positions in the league, respectively, both clubs are trailing behind Aduana Stars, Medeama SC, Bechem United, and Berekum Chelsea.
According to Quaye, Aduana Stars have shown more consistency and quality compared to the other clubs and are likely to clinch the title.
“I have no doubt that the team at the top [Aduana Stars] will win the league. Their performance speaks for itself. On the other hand, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are not performing well. They lack quality players, and I can say that with certainty,” Quaye expressed to Ghanasportspage.com.
He further emphasized that Aduana Stars and Bechem United have demonstrated the presence of quality players, making them strong contenders for the top positions in the league. However, he expressed skepticism about Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, stating that their players lack motivation and might struggle to even finish in the top four.
“The performance of Aduana Stars and Bechem United shows the quality players they have. These two teams can finish first and second on the league table but for Hearts and Kotoko I’m not sure. Their players are lazy and I don’t think they can even finish in the top four,” Dan Quaye told Ghanasportspage.com.
Aduana Stars currently lead the league table with a two-point advantage. With only four games remaining in the season, they are seven and eight points ahead of Hearts and Kotoko, respectively.
In the upcoming fixtures, Asante Kotoko will face Kotoku Royals away at Dawu Park on matchday 31. Aduana Stars will visit Accra Lions, while Hearts of Oak will host Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
