Swiss Super League side FC Zurich have officially confirmed the departure of Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh following a mutual termination of his contract.

The 24-year-old, who joined the club in January 2023 from Accra Hearts of Oak, made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals in the Swiss top flight.

In a statement released on the club’s official website, FC Zurich thanked Barnieh for his commitment and wished him the best in his future endeavors.

The former Ghana U-20 captain is now a free agent and available on the transfer market this summer.

Barnieh was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has long been regarded as a promising attacking talent, known for his flair, intelligence, and creativity in the final third.

As he seeks his next challenge, several clubs across Europe and Africa are expected to monitor his situation closely.
