Fulham legend Danny Murphy has lauded Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu for his fantastic display for Southampton against Manchester City over the weekend.
The 22-year-old guardsman put the brakes on the rampaging City attackers as his side drew 1-1 and was named in Alan Shearer’s team of the weel
“It was a phenomenal performance [Salisu] has had his critics in certain games this season and he can be erratic, but this was a perfect performance.” Murphy told BBC
“He was helped by everyone around him playing well as well, but it was a mixture of his aerial ability, his reading of the game, his blocks, patience, his passing when he came out.”
“He looked like he was full of confidence and he loves defending, he loves the challenge, and everything went well for him.”
Salisu was signed from Valladolid in the summer of 2020 and has risen to become a key member of the Saints,
