Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna Sandan has marked a major milestone in his career after scoring his first goal for FC Ordabasy to secure a place in the Kazakhstan Cup semi-finals.
The former APOEL midfielder made an instant impact off the bench on Wednesday, netting the decisive goal just three minutes into the second half in Ordabasy’s narrow 1-0 victory over FC Zhetysu Taldykorgan in the quarter-finals.
Abagna was introduced at the start of the second half as Ordabasy searched for a breakthrough, replacing forward Magzhan Toktybay, and quickly turned the game around with his crucial strike.
The goal proved enough to send Ordabasy into the last four of the competition and also represented his first goal since joining the Kazakh side from Cypriot club APOEL.
The 27-year-old midfielder is gradually settling into life at the club, and his match-winning performance is expected to boost his confidence as he aims to cement a regular place in the team.
Ordabasy now shift attention to the semi-finals of the Kazakhstan Cup, with Abagna hoping to build on his decisive contribution in the upcoming fixtures.
