Derrick Kohn, defender for Union Berlin, has set a determined tone ahead of Ghana’s high-profile friendly against Germany on March 30, 2026.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the 27-year-old left-back stressed that professional friendships with German internationals will not influence his performance on the pitch. He pointed out that his weekly experience in the Bundesliga gives him a unique tactical understanding of his opponents.
“I know a lot of players from the Germany national team because I play every week against them. But on the field, we’re not friends. We want to beat them,” Kohn declared.
The match, scheduled in Stuttgart, is seen as a key test for Ghana Black Stars as they fine-tune preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana will face a challenging World Cup group featuring England, Panama, and Croatia.
Kohn’s remarks underline the Black Stars’ focus and competitive spirit as they gear up to challenge one of the world’s football powerhouses.
