Olympiacos Piraeus have reportedly shown concrete interest in Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen, who has been one of the standout performers in the Cypriot top flight with Pafos FC this season.
The Greek giants are understood to have formed a very positive assessment of the 30-year-old centre-back after closely monitoring him during a recent encounter against the Cypriot side as reported by soccernews.nl.
Luckassen’s commanding presence, composure on the ball and leadership qualities have made him a key reference point for Paphos since joining the club in July 2024.
Luckassen has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Cyprus, establishing himself as one of the most consistent central defenders in the league in recent years.
He has made 18 league appearances so far, contributing three goals, underlining his threat from set-pieces in addition to his defensive solidity.
A major factor enhancing his appeal is his contractual situation, with his deal set to expire in the summer of 2026.
This has placed several clubs on alert, including Olympiacos, who are in the market for a reliable and experienced option to bolster their defensive depth.
The Reds are reportedly considering Luckassen as a fourth-choice centre-back who can provide immediate impact without a long adaptation period.
Versatility is another key asset in Luckassen’s profile, as he is also capable of operating as a defensive midfielder, a quality that would offer Olympiacos head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar added tactical flexibility.
Interest in the former Netherlands U21 international is not limited to Greece.
Turkish giants Fenerbahace are said to have submitted a 3 million Euros bid in January 2026, highlighting the growing competition for his signature.
According to Transfermarkt, Luckassen’s current market value stands at 1.00 million Euros.
