Former King Faisal defender, David Oppong Afrane has officially become a part of Hearts of Oak as they prepare for the 2023/24 football season.

The 20-year-old has inked a three-year deal with the ‘Phobians’ following productive negotiations, despite previous reports suggesting the deal fell through towards the end of the season.

Ever since the summer transfer window opened, this versatile defender had been strongly linked with a move to Hearts of Oak due to his outstanding performance with King Faisal FC in the previous season.

Initially, the Rainbow Club had two offers of $12,000 and $20,000 rejected. However, there were reports that Hearts of Oak had advised David Oppong Afrane to return to Kumasi to resolve any outstanding issues with King Faisal.

The latest news indicates that the deal has been successfully concluded, with Hearts of Oak having already paid Ghc150,000 to King Faisal. The player is now set to join the team for their remaining matches.

Despite an impressive preseason, Martin Koopman’s team suffered a defeat in their season opener against RTU last week and will be looking for redemption in their upcoming match against Nsoatreman FC this Sunday.
