Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, a member of the Hearts of Oak board, has requested that if Daniel Afriyie Barnieh wishes to leave, the club not prevent him from doing so.
If the Phobians are unable to reach an agreement with him on a contract extension, the 21-year-old will become a free agent in the upcoming weeks.
In the past two and a half years, Barnieh has been an important player for the team, contributing to their victories in the Ghana Premier League and two FA Cup competitions.
After excelling for the Black Satellites and the Black Galaxies, his status in the other national teams has also improved.
The Black Stars team that just competed in the Qatar 2022 World Cup included the Hearts forward.
As a result, a number of clubs on the continent and in Europe, including an unformed Saudi Arabian club, have been showing interest in him.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe feels that Hearts has played a part in Barnieh’s rapid growth and that they must let the game dictate to them.
”We have not even had the opportunity to sit down with him,” he revealed, as quoted by Graphic Sports.
“Whenever you call him he’ll give an excuse and because he gets invited to the national teams he’ll tell you that we are going here and when we come back I’ll sign.”
“I’ve told my colleagues on the board that we should not allow him to dictate to us. If he is unwilling to sign we should allow him to go because it was Hearts that brought him to the limelight and if he wants to be ungrateful he should be allowed to go.”
