Former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has warned that Otto Addo will be deemed irresponsible’ should he allow himself to be influenced during his team selection for the World Cup.
With past experiences, the Black Stars have been ridiculed by Ghanaians for being the avenue for people in authority at the Ghana FA to make money by ensuring call-ups for their players.
Current GFA president, Kurt Okraku, has been on the receiving end of some of these critics with the consistent invitation of Philemon Baffour in the past.
But Nyantakyi has cautioned Addo to be firm in his dealings when it comes to calling up players for the national team.
“No coach worth his salt will allow somebody to dictate to him who should play and who should not play,” he told Joy Sports.
“If any coach did that, then he’s not a coach because as a coach, the responsibility lies squarely at your doorstep.”
Addo will be leading Ghana at the FIFA 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar next month.
