Don’t you think Justice Blay deserves some applause?

It takes only the brave ones to come out and express their feelings and opinions when they are not okay. Looking at Justice Blay’s face when he was interviewed by Bright Kankam Boadu, one could easily identify that the former skipper was in deep pain. Yes. Justice Blay is not happy with how things ended at his beloved Asante Kotoko.

Blay was told to leave the club after being identified as a bad egg. Chief Justice Blay was told he is a drunkard and doesn’t meet the level required by the Porcupine Warriors in terms of attitude.

Blay thanked them and left for good. The decision to part ways with him by the Porcupine Warriors divided opinion in the sports media and the fans of the club in toto. Many thought he was not treated with respect, especially when they revealed that he is a drunkard. Others thought he deserved the sack because indiscipline has been Kotoko’s biggest issue, where they have been failing to fight it all these years. Rumours were circulating that the club was thinking about giving him a contract where he would be paid according to the games he would play, because his injury records were not good, even though he is a fantastic player.

Blay at Pure FM did not hide anything as he revealed all that was bothering him. The former Medeama midfielder started by disclosing that Congolese goalkeeper Camara once slept with his woman. Also, star striker Kwame Poku has snatched his sugar mummy, much to the surprise of everyone. He also said that he is not the only player who likes alcohol in the club. What a bombshell in Enock Darko’s voice.

The 33-year-old midfielder cum defender joined Asante Kotoko in February 2022 and was a regular only if he was fit, as injuries limited his talent. As a senior player of the team, Blay was much admired by the Fabulous fans due to his enormous talent. His relationship with the Porcupine Warriors family has now turned sour because of his bombshell on Pure FM.

The bona fide midfielder, after a few hours of his interview with BKB, released a communique to beg for forgiveness for the revelation. Many fans accepted his apologies, while others were not cool with him.

Don’t you think he deserves some applause for coming out to pour out what was killing him slowly? Ghanaian footballers are not trained in a way that they can come out and express their feelings because many will think they are arrogant and disrespectful. Not only in football but the other sectors of our lives, the average Ghanaian is trained in a way that he cannot even ask questions when he or she doesn’t understand something. The average Ghanaian is afraid to let people know what is wrong with him or her.

When Dele Ali came out in July 2023 in an interview with Gary Neville about how he was abused at a very young age, he was congratulated for speaking out. In my opinion, Blay must be congratulated for his boldness.

Now, to Camara and Kwame Poku, they are professionals only on the pitch; everything shows. Outside the pitch, the two are very irresponsible and childish. They broke the brotherliness that existed among them.

Football’s unwritten rule number one: do not chase your teammates’ girlfriend or wife, as the effects are unimaginable. Kwame Poku is a fine striker, undoubtedly, but must be ashamed of developing any sort of feelings for Blay’s woman.

Blay says he introduced Kwame to the woman, but Kwame was later dating her.

The midfielder has left the club, and he will no longer be part of their plans. What are they going to tell Kwame Poku and Camara now?

This is the biggest question the club must be dealing with before the 2025-26 season commences, because nothing shows that they will stop now.

Blay was hurting, which is why he vomited everything without thinking twice. At least, he has given a clue to the club’s authorities; it is up to them to plan to eradicate all the barbaric behaviours. Justice Blay is at the twilight of his career and will try his luck elsewhere.

Kotoko fans should, in some way, praise the Chief Justice for letting them know what exactly is always happening behind the scenes. It is extremely disappointing to hear such news about a club like Kotoko. Arguably the biggest club in West Africa, the team should be in the news always for good reasons.

A trip around Africa in the Confederation Cup will demand camaraderie and selflessness from everyone connected to the team. What will the feeling be like if you bring your girlfriend to Kotoko’s party? Kwame Poku and Camra must change to save their reputations and careers because women are the sweetest thing on this earth, but they are also the dangerous.
