Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, demonstrated his unwavering support for the Black Stars ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Central African Republic on Monday night, by donating GHC500,000 to the team.
Scheduled to face off against the Wild Beast of Central Africa Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium at 7pm, the four-time Africa champions received a boost from Dr. Bawumia, who visited the team to provide motivation and encouragement. Accompanying him was Sports Minister Ussif Mustapha.
Upon their arrival, they were warmly received by Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku and head coach Otto Addo. Dr. Bawumia, in a gesture of support, presented the team with GHC500,000 as a form of motivation ahead of the crucial encounter.
With Ghana’s group standings wide open after three rounds of matches, the Black Stars find themselves tied on six points with Madagascar and Comoros. Mali and Central African Republic closely trail with four points each, while Chad sits at the bottom with no points.
In light of this, securing maximum points against the Central African Republic at home becomes imperative for the Black Stars to bolster their position in Group I standings.
