Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to prioritize the development of local players for the Black Stars following the team’s disappointing performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Currently sitting third in Group F with just two points from two draws and two defeats, Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s tournament in Morocco appear uncertain.
In light of the Black Stars’ shocking 2-0 defeat to Sudan, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe believes it’s crucial for the GFA to invest in local talent for the senior national team.
“I can assure you that we have good players in the country, and if we camp them for three months and provide the right training, we can unlock their potential for the Black Stars,” the veteran football administrator told Asempa FM.
“The Ghana Football Association must be intentional about this plan, and I am confident it will yield positive results for our country,” added the Hearts of Oak board member.
Ghana will regroup next month to face Niger and Angola in their final Group F matches, needing to secure wins in both games and hoping Sudan drops points in their remaining fixtures to stand a chance of qualifying.
