The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that the draw for the highly anticipated African Football League (AFL) will be conducted in Cairo on September 2nd, commencing at 19:00 local time.
This groundbreaking competition, introduced by CAF in collaboration with FIFA, marks the inception of the AFL. The maiden edition will feature the participation of eight teams, serving as a precursor to the comprehensive 2024/2025 edition, encompassing the top 24 ranked African teams.
Set to transpire within the current year, this edition of the AFL will embrace a home-and-away structure combined with a knockout format.
The lineup for this inaugural event comprises notable teams: Egypt’s Ahly, Tunisia’s Esperance, Nigeria’s Enyimba, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Angola’s Petro Atletico, Tanzania’s Simba, DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, and Morocco’s Wydad.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on October 20th and will conclude on November 11th.
