Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derek Agyakwa has joined EFL League One Port Vale on the eve of the new League One season.
The 20-year-old centre-half was released by Watford at the end of the last campaign following their relegation from the Premier League.

Agyakwa started his career at FC Twente prior to linking up with Watford in January 2020 following a two-week trial.
He made two League Cup appearances for the Hornets and spent time on loan at Italian Serie C side Como in 2020/21.
Vale manager Darrell Clarke said: “Derek is coming in as a player that we can help to develop and grow.
“We are looking forward to working with him, he has shown a real willingness to learn and improve his game, and his time on trial with us showcased the ability that he already possesses.

“He is someone that we can develop for the future and is a somebody that we are looking to build into the player we know he is capable of being.”
Agyakwa is Vale’s fourth signing of the summer as they plan for their return to League One following their play-off final victory over Mansfield Town at Wembley in May.
