AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro has been ranked the fourth best young goalkeeper in the world.

The 21-year-old, who turns 22 on July 2, secured a place in the top five of the latest rankings released by the CIES Football Observatory on April 29, 2026.

Owusu-Oduro is widely regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers, and the latest ranking reinforces that reputation.

The AZ Alkmaar shot-stopper, who is of Ghanaian descent, remains eligible to represent the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite being born in the Netherlands.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L for the tournament, where they will face the England national football team, Panama national football team, and Croatia national football team.

Only Mike Penders, who is on loan from Chelsea FC at RC Strasbourg, along with Jonas Urbig of Bayern Munich and Robin Risser of RC Lens, were ranked ahead of Owusu-Oduro, according to the CIES Football Observatory.

In 36 games in all competitions this season, including those in the Europa Conference League, Owusu-Oduro has conceded 46 goals and kept 13 clean sheets.

At the time of writing, AZ Alkmaar rank sixth in the Eredivisie and are in pole position to qualify for the Europa League or Conference League.
