Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere found the net, but his effort was not enough as Shenzhen Peng City fell 2-1 to Zhejiang Professional in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
The 26-year-old forward, who joined Shenzhen at the start of the season, completed the full 90 minutes and delivered one of the visitors’ most lively performances despite the defeat.
Owusu-Sekyere gave Shenzhen the lead just before half-time, striking in the 43rd minute to reward a strong attacking display from the first half. However, the advantage was short-lived as Zhejiang responded through Marko Tolić, who restored parity before the break.
After the restart, the hosts took control of the contest and eventually completed the turnaround in the 79th minute when Wang Yudong scored the winning goal.
Despite the result, Owusu-Sekyere’s strike marked his first goal of the season in nine league appearances. The former Ajax and FC Twente academy graduate will be hoping to build on this breakthrough as the campaign progresses.
