Dutch Eredivisie club Feyenoord has expressed strong interest in signing Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei, according to Expressen.
Adjei, 21, has been on loan at French Ligue 1 side Lorient since January from Hammarby IF.
Lorient holds a mandatory purchase option for Adjei if they remain in Ligue 1, but with the team on the brink of relegation, this option is unlikely to be exercised.
Currently, Lorient is three points shy of the qualification spot with one game remaining, needing a win and a significant goal difference turnaround to avoid relegation.
Should Lorient fail to stay up, Expressen reports that Adjei will not continue with the French club next season. Instead, Hammarby is expected to explore selling him to another foreign club this summer, with Feyenoord making initial contact regarding a potential transfer.
Feyenoord, set to compete in the Champions League next season after finishing second in the Dutch league, is keen on bolstering their squad with Adjei, who has a contract with Hammarby until the summer of 2026.
Adjei has featured in 15 games for Lorient in Ligue 1.
