Egyptian giants Zamalek SC are hot on the heels of Ghanaian defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu, with talks underway to secure his signature in the ongoing transfer window.
The reigning CAF Confederation Cup holders are seeking to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season and have identified the Medeama star as the ideal left-back to join their ranks.
The 25-year-old Hamidu has been in scintillating form for both club and country, earning a call-up to the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, in September 2023. He made his debut against Liberia in an international friendly, helping his side win 3-1.
Hamidu’s impressive performances with Medeama, where he played a key role in the team’s first-ever Ghana Premier League title win in the 2022/23 season, have attracted interest from several clubs. However, Zamalek appear to be the front-runners in the race to secure his services.
The Egyptian giants are yet to agree a deal with Medeama, but it is believed that talks are ongoing and a transfer could be imminent.
