Jude Bellingham, the standout performer of the day, scored a dramatic 92nd-minute match-winner by bagging a brace for Real Madrid in the first El Clásico of the season.

This victory marked the end of Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

With the legendary Rolling Stones in attendance as Barcelona fans, this iconic fixture demanded confidence and expertise. İlkay Gündoğan, familiar with high-stakes games like this, had previously scored within 15 seconds of the FA Cup final Manchester derby in June. He wasted no time in making an impact in this blockbuster clash. Less than six minutes into the match, a failed interception attempt by Aurélien Tchouaméni near his own area inadvertently set up Gündoğan, who calmly slotted home the opening goal.

Real Madrid urgently needed to tighten up, especially in their own box. Toni Kroos had an unfortunate loss of possession due to the tenacious Gavi, allowing Fermín López to pounce and strike the post. Los Blancos struggled to create attacking opportunities in the first half, failing to register a single shot on target before halftime. Carlo Ancelotti had much to contemplate during the break.

The second half began with no immediate improvement from Real, and they were fortunate that the scoreline remained at one. Iñigo Martínez became the second Barcelona player to hit the post, with Kepa Arrizabalaga making a crucial save from Ronald Araújo’s follow-up.

The tides turned in the 68th minute when Marc-André ter Stegen was called into action, making a superb diving save to deny Tchouaméni. Shortly after, Jude Bellingham, who was in sublime form, made his presence felt in club football’s grandest encounter. Capitalizing on a poor clearance outside the penalty area, the Englishman unleashed a thunderous strike that found the back of the net, leveling the score.

Real Madrid, now brimming with confidence, looked poised to snatch victory. They had to be patient, but the sweetness of the winner was undeniable. Daniel Carvajal’s cross was cleverly redirected by Luka Modrić into the path of Bellingham, who calmly slotted in his 13th goal in as many appearances for Real. This late strike secured a thrilling victory for Real Madrid in one of football’s most dramatic contests.

The win also catapulted Ancelotti’s team back to the summit of La Liga, inflicting Barcelona’s first home league defeat of the season. Real Madrid’s remarkable start to the season continued.
