Ghana international Elisha Owusu has stated that he is relieved to be fit and playing football again.
After joining AJ Auxerre in the January window, the midfielder sustained a season-ending injury during the 2022/23 football season and missed the second half of the campaign.
He is fit after six months and played in his team’s opening match of the season last weekend.
In a game against Valenciennes in the French Ligue 2, the Black Stars midfielder produced an outstanding performance to aid his team to a 4-1 victory.
Owusu said he was inspired to play as though he had recently signed for AJ Auxerre in a post-game interview.
“Yes, it’s been a great week. After being sidelined for a long time, coming back to a victory with style was the best! In addition, I had no apprehension on the physical level. I had managed a good preparation by filling up with confidence. So this match in Valenciennes was the icing on the cake. And that allowed me to leave this injury last month.
“And there was even excitement! I wanted to approach the game like a player who has just signed his first pro contract and who is discovering the pro group,” Elisha Owusu said.
