Ghanaian attacker Elvis Manu is not pleased after Groningen fans attacked his strike partner Jetro Willems after the 2-0 defeat to Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.
Jetro was punched by a fan after the derby loss to Heerenveen an Manu has condemned the act.
“It’s a pitch-black day. This must never happen.” Manu told VI.nl
“It’s a great pity. One person ruined it for everyone. I think we had the crowd behind us from minute one. We have felt support.”
“Too bad something like this happened. Everyone is very emotional, but this has no place on the football field,” he added.
Groningen are 17th on the league log with 17 points from 26 games.
