Defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Ivory Coast, will be in Morocco with much confidence after head coach Emerse Fae named his final 26-man squad for the tournament.

The 26-man squad includes Panathinaikos goalkeeper Alban Lafont and Yahia Fofana of Rizespor.

The strength of their team could be in their centre-backs, as Fae included strong defenders. Emmanuel Agbadou, Evan Ndicka, Ousmane Diomande, Willy Boly and Odilon Koussounou are included. PSG’s Desire Doue’s elder brother, Guela Doue of Strasbourg, has been named among the defenders.

The midfield trio that won the 2023 AFCON, Seko Fofana, Franck Kessie and Ibrahim Sangare are part of Faes’ team.

In the attack, Amad Diallo, Sebastien Haller and Wilfred Zaha were named in the list.

Surprisingly, Nicholas Pepe, Simon Adingra and Wilfred Singo, who all played key roles in the 2023 AFCON, were excluded.

The Elephants of the Ivory Coast will face Mozambique, Gabon and Cameroon in Group F of the AFCON 2025.
