Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi believes missed opportunities were to blame for his team’s 1-1 draw against newly promoted Young Apostles in their Ghana Premier League matchday three encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Antwi, who scored his first goal for the club since joining on a free transfer from Great Olympics, rescued a point for the Porcupine Warriors with a 76th-minute equalizer. However, he expressed disappointment over the result, pointing to Kotoko’s failure to capitalize on their chances.
Speaking to the club’s media team after the game, Antwi said, “I think we didn’t take our chances seriously, and we were supposed to bury them. You can play 90 minutes and get only one chance in the game, so when it comes, you have to utilize it. I would say that’s what killed us in the first half because we had a lot of chances we were supposed to put in the back of the net.”
Young Apostles took the lead in the 51st minute through Daniel Lomotey, but Antwi’s long-range strike 25 minutes later ensured Kotoko avoided defeat.
Despite the draw, Kotoko will be left to rue their missed opportunities as they look to improve in their next fixture.
