Ghana international Emmanuel Gyasi Quartsin provided an assist in Empoli’s 3-1 defeat to Lecce in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.
The former Black Stars forward played the entire match as Empoli suffered a home loss at the Stadio Carlo Castellani – Computer Gross Arena in the Week 20 encounter.
Despite the defeat, Gyasi put in a solid performance for Empoli. Lecce took an early lead in the 6th minute with Tete Morente scoring after being set up by Santiago Pierotti. Nikola Krstovic then doubled the visitors’ advantage five minutes later.
After the break, Empoli responded with a goal in the 47th minute, as Liberato Cacace finished off Gyasi’s assist to reduce the deficit. However, Lecce sealed the victory in stoppage time with another goal from Krstovic.
The 31-year-old Ghanaian forward has now contributed two goals and two assists in 20 Serie A appearances this season. Across all competitions, Gyasi has made 23 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
