Kwadwo Asamoah, the former Ghanaian midfielder, has sent a heartfelt message to his ex-Juventus teammate Gianluigi Buffon following the legendary Italian goalkeeper’s retirement from football.
Buffon, after a remarkable career spanning nearly three decades, has decided to hang up his gloves.
Asamoah and Buffon shared successful times at Juventus, winning numerous trophies together, including the Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
In light of Buffon’s retirement announcement on Wednesday, Asamoah expressed his admiration and respect for his former captain through a social media post.
“Thanks for showing us what true leadership means. Enjoy your retirement Gianluigi Buffon,” wrote Asamoah on Twitter.
The World Cup winner of 2006 amassed an impressive total of 657 appearances in the Italian topflight while representing clubs like Parma and Juventus. He also had a spell with Paris Saint-Germain in France before returning to Italy to conclude his illustrious career.
Buffon shared a heartfelt farewell message, stating, “That’s all folks! You gave me everything. I gave you everything. We did it together.”
On the other hand, Asamoah had announced his retirement from professional football last year at the age of 33. Currently, he is building his career in the player agency business, embarking on a new path after his successful journey on the football field.
