Asante Kotoko on Wednesday, December 21, came from behind to defeat Berekum Chelsea on matchday nine of the betPawa Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Goals from Eric Zeze and Steven Mukwala ensured the Porcupine Warriors finished the game with a 2-1 score having conceded in the 27th minute of the encounter.
It was the first time the Porcupine Warriors were returning to competitive action following the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Emmanuel Sarpong netted the opening goal in the 27th minute of the game to give the visitors the lead at the Baba Yara Stadium.
But Eric Zeze had other ideas prior to the break as he scored his first goal for Kotoko to take the game into the break at 1-1.
Mukwala then wrapped up the win for Seydou Zerbo’s men, heading in from an Enock Morrison cross from a free-kick to give the Kumasi-based side the lead.
The win sees Kotoko climb to second on the league table with 17 points, two behind Aduana Football Club.
