Ghana and Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah has shared positive news as he moves closer to returning to football after a long injury layoff.

The Black Stars attacker has been out of action since April after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a Ligue 1 match against Lille. The setback ruled him out of the start of the 2025/26 season and also kept him away from Ghana’s World Cup qualifying matches.

After spending eight months on the sidelines, Nuamah has now given fans hope of an imminent comeback. In a post on social media, the 22-year-old expressed confidence and determination as he nears full recovery.

“A man who has been through the storm won’t fear the rain. He has faced the hardest battles and still stands strong. Lead me to the starting line. Soon, very soon,” he wrote.

Nuamah is currently in the final stage of his rehabilitation and is expected to begin training with the ball in the coming weeks. A return to competitive action is anticipated in early 2026.

His comeback would be a major boost for Ghana as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Nuamah played an important role in the qualifiers before his injury, scoring a crucial goal in Ghana’s away win over Mali in Bamako.

Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, have been placed in Group L for the World Cup qualifiers alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
